Nicolas Potel is one of Burgundy’s most charismatic wine-makers. This
Savigny-lès-Beaune vineyard, Les Hauts Jarrons, owned by Nicolas
himself, nestles on a steep slope just below the main Paris autoroute. The
youngest vines here are over thirty years old, helping to ensure concentration
of flavour. The 2006 vintage was sold under the Nicolas Potel label, but future
vintages will be as Domaine Potel. This is a beautifully elegant, refined and
perfumed Savigny. Aromatic notes of red cherry and peony dominate, with a
deliciously refined texture on the palate.
