2004 Ch. Mille Roses, Haut-Médoc
Its charming name apart, this is a superior modern claret made from just five hectares in the village of Macau, producing a stylish red whose fragrant, cedary polish from its time spent in oak is complemented by appealing red- and black-fruit flavours; it's drinking perfectly now, thanks to its rounded, supple texture.
(Anthony Rose - Liquid Assets: Christmas Wines - The Independent - 14-Nov-2009)

Stylish modern Claret, rich enough to make one think of 2005 rather than 2004. In fact, 2004 was a fairly cool year which produced classically-structured Clarets with delicious fruit, balanced by crisp acidity to provide a good balance. Cassis and berry fruits aromas come strongly to the fore on the nose and the palate is equally striking. Drink with roast lamb or hard cheese.

A really bouncy nose to this unheralded '04. Blackcurrant and mulberry fruit jump out with an interwoven scent of Indian spice that gives real edge to the densely packed nose. Fantastic aromatics that makes you want to keep on sniffing! The palate continues on in the same vein with rounded, dense fruit and gorgeous succulent tannins that coat the mouth! Vibrancy and energy are the key to this wines success, and the palate delivers a rich fragrant finish. I could mistake this for a 2005, so sweet and juicy is the fruit! Drink this as soon as possible like it's going out of fashion...

Soft, cedar, black cherry and currant fruit intermixed with hints of tobacco leaf and spice emerge from this round, generously endowed, soft Haut-Medoc. A blend of 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, it can be drunk now or kept for 5-6 years.
