2005 Villa de Corullon, Descendientes de J Palacios
Of all the dramatis personae responsible for the resurrection of the reputation of the Bierzo vineyard, none deserves more credit than the seemingly indefatigable Alvaro Palacios. Here we have slate vineyards on steep slopes, with 60 year-old Mencia vines; raw and rugged materials for a rich chocolaty, chewy powerful wine, its tannins quite tight still, but promising a fine development.

2005 Villa de Corullon, Descendientes de J Palacios
Intensely sweet and spicily berry-like in its aromas, this is an impressive Spanish red made from Bierzo’s old vine Mencia, its concentrated dark berry fruit and firm tannins framed by spice and the distinctive herbal undertones derived from slate vineyards on steep slopes.
