2006 Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir, Sierra Madre, Santa Maria Valley, CA
(code: 71119B)
One of the most westerly in the Santa Maria Valley, this vineyard is affected
heavily by the coastal fog. First planted in 1971, the vineyard has changed
hands several times and Jim Clendenen now buys in fruit (the best fruit) from
this Mondavi-owned property.
The wine shows an incredibly perfumed nose, classic Pinot Noir, with pure red fruit and floral hints. A fresh acidity (characteristic of the vintage) glides through the bright cherry and raspberry fruit. A great introduction to the Au Bon Climat range.
