Frankland Estate lies in one of the coolest vineyard areas of Australia, 40kms
from the Southern Ocean at the tip of West Australia. Within its vineyard the
plot known as Isolation Ridge sits high up on a bed of gravel and loam soils on
a base of clay. This terroir, aided by the cool climate and the practising of
organic viticulture, provides ideal conditions for the production of fine,
elegant wines. The Chardonnay is very Burgundian in style, with an enticing
stone-fruit bouquet, redolent of white peach and nectarine. On the palate the
oak is admirably restrained, the texture is rich and soft but never blowsy, and
the whole is rounded off with lovely fresh acidity and impressive length on the
finish.
