2008 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc, Domaine des Sénéchaux

The blend here, for those interested in precision, is 32% Roussanne, 30 % Clairette, 30% Grenache Blanc and 8% Bourboulenc. The Roussanne is barrel fermented and allowed to rest for four months on its lees; the result is a template of modern Châteauneuf -du -Pape Blanc. This is a genuinely interesting wine, with notes of pineapple, vanillin and pear, tempered by spice, firm acidity and a balanced satisfying sensation en bouche.
