2008 Sancerre, 'Caillottes', Dme. François Cotat, Chavignol

Formely known as 'Jeunes Vignes', the Chavignol plot has now grown up sufficiently to earn the title 'Caillottes' after its limestone strewn soil. Compared to the leaner 2007s, one's immediately dazzled by the amount of sunshine in the glass, of its beguiling 'souplesse' & relative approachability. Francois reflected on the vintage as one where he had 'jamais vu aussi belle que 2008'. The perfect 'everyday' Cotat Sancerre while waiting for the single crus to come round. An awesome aperitif along with some senior eats.
