The improvement in this wine, vintage on vintage is staggering. This is thanks to sensible vineyard investment and an excellent winemaker in Ludwig Vanneron. The 2006 has a touch more Malbec then normal, and as such as more complexity and immediate appeal. Opaque in colour, this wine exudes a nose of dark fruits and mint chocolate. There is a muscular tannic structure here, but it is integrated. Tempered silky tannins with black cherries and spice galore. Enjoy this wine now with all types of meat (having given it some air) or keep for several years to allow a softer, rounder character to evolve. This must be the best in class Bergerac around.
