Puligny-Montrachet, most famous of the Côte d’Or’s white wine villages, is noted for the floral character and fine mineral backbone of its wines. This wine comes from several different vineyards within the commune, blended together at vinification. Alain Chavy developed his own domaine in 2003, having previously worked with his brother under their father’s label, Domaine Gérard Chavy et fils.
Alain’s is one of the few cellars in Puligny where it is possible to keep the barrels below ground, which is ideal for the wine’s maturation over 15 months in cask. 2007 is proving to be a very satisfactory vintage for white Burgundy. The wine is pale and bright in colour; attractively perfumed on the nose, with a finely tuned middle palate and good length.
