2004 Barolo DOCG Cru La Serra, Az. Agr. Giovanni Rosso
Davide's highest, ESE-facing vineyard, it's warmed by the early-morning sun, doesn't get too hot and bothered and is well ventilated...the result: a bracingly pure, crunchy-berried wine that carries the vintage beautifully, without losing sight of its roots. Still taut and temperamental, this is a wine for the cellar, one that will probably open up from 2013 onwards. One for lamb cutlets, yes sir!

2004 Barolo DOCG Cru La Serra, Az. Agr. Giovanni Rosso
The 2004 Barolo La Serra reveals a feminine expression of Nebbiolo in its raspberries, red cherries, spices and menthol, with firm, sinewy tannins that give the wine impressive focus and length. This mid-weight Barolo is a terrific effort from Davide Rosso.

Soft and delicious, offering plum and berry aromas and flavors, with round tannins and a strawberry and light vanilla aftertaste. Polished and harmonious.

Like Pinot Noir on stilts, the best of the Nebbiolo grape can combine delicacy and power in distinctive style. So it is with the La Serra, a red whose promisingly vivid fragrance is confirmed by the richness and concentration of its red and black fruits flavours, enhanced by fine tannins and an almost bittersweet chocolaty bite.
