Jean-Michel Drouin produces some of the best and most distinctive wines in the Mâconnais region. In typically Burgundian style, he has small parcels of vines (over 40) spread around in Mâcon, St. Véran and Pouilly-Fuissé. The wines are fermented in stainless steel tanks, enamel vats or wooden barrels depending on their nature. The St Véran is not oak aged and is bottled after 9 months maturation on its lees.
This St Véran comes from the village of Davayé, from a vineyard immediately adjacent to Pouilly Fuissé. Berry Bros & Rudd take the entire crop of this cuvee every year. It is bottled with stelvin screwcaps to preserve freshness. A little touch of colour from beautifully ripe grapes. A bouquet of white flowers and freshly baked apples leads on to a broad, rich palate. Sumptuous stuff at an affordable price.
