2006 Ch. Léoville Poyferré, 2ème Cru Classé, St Julien
(code: 72947B)"The feminine nose of this fantastic Poyferré gives way to a palate with an intriguing savoury edge and perfectly balanced acidity and weight. It is full bodied and fleshy at first yet gives way to a streamlined, fresh finish. This 2006 is definitely worth a look." Drink 2016-2030.

Maybe, just maybe, this is the year owner Didier Cuvelier will finally see hisestate get the credit he deserves. This is an exciting, exotic wine, with rich, racy, mocha coffee flavours complimenting the utterly intoxicating black fruit.Huge tannins and a firm structure make this a wine for the long term (notunusual for Poyferré), but unlike so many other wines in 2006 it has theconcentration of fruit to support it. This elegant Claret is arguably thesecond best wine in St Julien behind Léoville-Las Cases, and certainlyoffers outstanding value.
