Berrys' Good Ordinary Claret was first launched in 1974 and has been our best-selling wine ever since. First mooted in 1986, Berrys' Extra Ordinary Claret was launched a mere 19 years later - once the concept had perfectly matured. We canvassed far and wide to make the selection but eventually came to buy our wine from one of Bordeaux’s legendary figures, Jean-Michel Cazes, proprietor of the great Ch Lynch Bages. His family had also bought a Graves property in 1988 and it is from here that Jean-Michel makes this blend for BBR. The vinification is classical, with the wine spending 12 months in new oak before bottling. The high Merlot content provides wonderful flesh to partner the gentle tannins of the Cabernet, and the wine is ready to drink young although it is perfectly capable of ageing for a few years.
