2008 Pago de los Capellanes Joven, Ribera del Duero

Joven is something of a misnomer for this very fine and really quite serious wine. Indeed it is ‘young’ only in the sense that it is a 2008 vintage, and has even been treated to six months of barrel ageing…..very unusual in this category. With 10% of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot added to the Tempranillo,  Pago de los Capellanes Joven has a pleasing herbal backdrop and very refined tannins added to its warming core of blackberry fruit.
