2007 Langhe Nebbiolo DOC, Az. Agr. Cascina Fontana, Piedmont
|
|
2007 was notable for its early season, mild summer and long dry autumn giving
wines that are immensely charming, fruit expressive and giving even when young
(while we wait for the 2004 and 2006s to grow-up). Mario's Langhe Nebbiolo, a
baby Barolo is all but title, stems from his Sinio (a village just beyond
Serralunga d'Alba) and Castiglione Pozzo vineyards, combining to treat us a
super suave, delicate, juicy expression of this magnificent grape. Drinking now
along with any means of fowl or beast, and will age if you're curious (judging
by the brilliant 1997 served over lunch one day).
