The Limoux AOC rules are relatively demanding, demanding certainly in the
Languedoc, as they require hand harvesting, oak fermentation and at least 6
months of ageing before release. This quality initiative has as its aim the
promotion of Limoux as a serious Appellation in its own right; it is lucky in
having a grower such as Jean Luc Terrier in its ranks. The romantically named
Terres Amoureuses in question is a plot of 35 year old vines located at 400
metres of altitude; the day-night temperature variation is significant and the
view of the Pyrenes is stunning! The wine is elegant with notes of vanillin,
fig and peach cleverly entwined. The mouth-feel is rich and satisfying, almost
more Côte D’Or than Macon in its complexity!
