1996 Vosne-Romanée, Cros Parentoux, 1er Domaine Méo-Camuzet

This isn't quite as ripe as the Rouget yet this is really lovely with an understated purity and detail that I find utterly beguiling. Like many '96s today, this is not an especially dense or powerful wine though there is good if not truly exceptionally mid-palate sap, fine intensity and incipient complexity all framed and highlighted by prominent finishing acidity. This should enjoy a long life as there is excellent balance and the essential character here is one of finesse rather than power. Multiple, and consistent, notes.
