2009 Isabel Pinot Gris, Marlborough, NZ

Isabel’s policy with Pinot Gris is consciously to avoid looking for a wine high in alcohol and residual sugar. They seek a wine with the smoky, spicy aroma and the rich viscosity traditionally associated with Pinot Gris but also to retain a degree of freshness from having sufficient acidity. This example succeeds admirably and would be a brilliant partner to roast pork or country pâtés.
