2007 William Fèvre, Antis, Maipo Valley, Chile
The best of the wines from the impressive William Fèvre estate, the Antis is a blend of equal proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Carmenère. Hand harvested and allowed a generous maceration after the fermentation, this is a true vin de garde, having matured for 14 months in new French barrels then another 12 in bottle before release. There is majestic poise here, with notably rounded tannins, a real elegance of fruit and a serious length at the end of the mouth. A very exciting addition to the hitherto somewhat limited cannon of Chilean greats.
