From some of the finest (and oldest) vines in Chile, this magisterial wine
comes from ungrafted 100 year old Carmènere vines in Apalta, in
Colchagua valley , and demonstrates just what can be done in these beautiful
Chilean vineyards. Made by Patrick Valette from 70% Carmenère, the
balance Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is matured for 14 months in new
French oak . Classy robust structure and genuine complexity of flavour.

The purple-colored 2005 Espiritu de Apalta is composed of 50% Carmenere and 50%
Cabernet Sauvignon bottled without filtration. It offers a spicy, toasty
perfume with blue fruit and black cherry. Smooth-textured and plush on the
palate, this savory, well-balanced wine has enough structure to evolve for 2-3
years. The finish is long and pure.
