Product Details
2006 Montefalco Rosso, 'Sololoro', Az. Agr. Fontecolle, Umbria
(code: 74691B)
Duccio Pompili's continues where he left off (with the excellent 2005)
producing this earlier drinking Montefalco wine, with approx 70% Sangiovese,
15% Sagrantino and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot (less so in 2006). 2006
was a hotter vintage, giving a particularly fleshy, plump, frutta di mura,
brambly feel to this wine, yet all the while remaining fresh and exciting
thanks to Aldo's careful handling and attention to detail. Bottled in Sept '09
it's beginning to drink beautifully now, along side any Mediterranean dish.
This is how wines from the South should be: supple, olive-skinned and
gorgeous!
