We were thrilled by both the pinot gris wines produced by the Ostler team in 2008: The Blue House vineyard was fresh and chiselled, but the winner was the toothsome Audrey’s vineyard bottling with superb texture as well as profound fruit with the spicy edge found in great Alsatian pinot gris. This will accompany a wide range of dishes from summer salads to cassoulet.

The nose shows very restrained but quite intense with tropical & stone fruits and a marvellous nutty minerality running through the wine. The palate is refined and taut but offers a profusion of white flower, lanolin and ripe fig flavours. It is a weighty wine with residual sugar a tad lower than the previous release - but we are less inclined to assert our will on these wines of Terroir than simple beverage wines. If the 2006 is anything to go by we are at the beginning of a very exciting journey for this wine. It's not shy; rather it has the reserve that only maturity will allow to unleash. Try to avoid drinking it too young - if you can!

Has a lot more fat and sweet vanillin richness on the nose, a clean melony fruit and a lovely, with a touch of honey and lots of apple pie fruit. Slightly short on the finish, but really nice crisp acidity and balance. Drinks beautifully.
