2008 Gevrey-Chambertin, Vieilles Vignes, Domaine Sylvie Esmonin

Deep, rich purple in colour, this brims with vigorous, brambly fruit leading to a rich, almost chocolaty finish. There is plenty of personality here.

60% whole berries and 60% new oak. Racked a month ago. Very dark. Heady and dramatic and tastes much less tough and oaky than the regular cuvée. Lots of great ripe fruit with a little, very little, toughness on the finish. Very long and lots of energy here.
