2008 Clos de Vougeot, Grand Cru Domaine Lamarche

Lamarche have three parcels of the Clos; two at the top just beneath the château and one more or less in the opposite corner at the bottom. This well-established domaine has been making increasingly good wines for the past decade or so and the new generation – Nicole and Nathalie – have more recently been adding a definite
feminine touch to this ameliorating domaine.

Fine and full-bodied, lively yet with mouthfilling fruit, Lamarche's Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is a very complete wine which combines ripe fruit with a fresh vivacity.

A beautiful nose combines notes of ripe and pure red berry fruit aromas that are liberally laced with warm earth and oak spice hints that can also be found on the unusually refined broad-shouldered flavors that are rich, delicious and detailed while possessing good mid-palate sap and the structural elements appear to be sufficiently ripe to avoid dryness though there is a touch of tanginess at present that is probably attributable to gas.
