2008 Clos de Vougeot, Grand Cru, Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair

Full of lovely, clear, bright red fruit, Thibault’s Clos de Vougeot is sumptuous and suave, spreading across the palate with little ripples of flavour. It has surprising delicacy, yet still maintains the weight one would expect from this vineyard.

Tasted at Flint Wine’s 2008 horizontal in London. This has fine mineralité on the nose with just a touch of reduction. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, nice grip but lacking a little panache on the finish. Too much oak here.
