2008 St Peray, Roussanne, Domaine Du Tunnel

Stéphane Robert makes a Roussanne and a Marsanne Cuvée of St Peray, and for good measure a third wine which blends the two. Potential complication is vindicated by the enchantingly different flavours in the three wines; the Roussane is the most aromatic, with notes of pear skin and spring flowers and then a richly textured palate which has been rounded out by lengthy ageing in (third fill) barrique. A delightful apéritif; indeed the apéritif du choix in this part of the world!
