The Perrin family is best known as the owners of the famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine estate Château de Beaucastel. The Domaine Perrin is a brand which was created in 1997 by François Perrin and his brother Jean-Pierre, and is now run by their children, Pierre and Marc, very good friends to BBR one and all.
The aspiration was to extend the influence of this great estate into the other great villages of the Southern Rhône, with a combination of owned and contracted vines, all located in prime sites in the villages in question. In a short space of time la Famille Perrin, as the wine range will henceforth be known, has achieved its aim and garnered recognition for am impressively diverse portfolio, which now covers over 350 hectares.
The picturesque Medieval village of Gigondas, perched on the hillside of the Dentelles de Montmirail, here provides one of the very best examples. Dominated by Grenache, with a sprinkling of Syrah and Mourvèdre for good luck, this is an outstanding example of Southern Rhône power and expressive aromatics.
Vinified in cement and matured in large wood (foudre) the wine is rich and warming, with a nose of Provençal herbs and black pepper and a real depth of food-friendly flavour.
