An old adage states that “Rome was built on seven hills, but Dufftown
stands on seven stills”. Dufftown is one of the pre-eminent Whisky towns
in Speyside and the eponymous distillery lies on the outskirts near to the
ancient Mortlach church.
The nose gives Danish pastry notes mingled with grassy, toasty and earthy nuances. There is a little grape skin and under-ripe banana. The palate is broad and fattens to reveal toasted oak, liquorice, blackcurrant and fizzing citrus. A smooth and somewhat savoury finish rounds off the experience.
