2007 Smith Woodhouse
I enjoyed this wine’s slightly edgier feel. Not perhaps as polished as some of its rivals, it nevertheless retains the potential to last as long as any and it is, reassuringly, easier on the wallet than most. Previous Port declarations always reveal an outsider, and this could in time rival some of the more fancied names for 2007.

Firm, smoky and liquorice with a hint of tar. Serious stuff. Nice fresh fruit and really rather luscious. Exciting tingle on the palate. There's a great beginning, middle and end to this wine. Zesty but rewarding. Bravo! Maybe not for the very long term but great balance for the medium term.

2007 Smith Woodhouse
The purple/black-colored 2007 Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port exhibits an alluring bouquet of mineral, pencil lead, espresso, violets, black currant, and fruitcake. Dense and structured on the palate, it has an excellent integration of alcohol, acidity, and tannin. It should be one of the longer lived wines of the vintage with 12-15+ years of aging potential and a drinking window extending through 2037.

There's plenty of blueberry and raspberry in this young Vintage Port. Full-bodied and medium sweet, with chewy tannins and a medium finish. Chunky and a little awkward now. But the structure is very good to excellent.
