1996 Berrys' Own Selection Caol Ila

Caol Ila distillery is to be found near Port Askaig facing across the sound of Islay to neighbouring Jura. The whisky is very well respected for both its distinctive smoky, briny Islay style and elegant fruity balance.

Initial fruit gum aromas peel back to allow the smoke to pervade. Fresh and grassy with some lemon zest and leather, this is very approachable and beautifully balanced. The palate is clean, zippy with good structure and a distinct green olive note which carries through to the salty, savoury finish.
