Best Newcomer - Rhône 2007
Stéphane Robert is an exciting new find for us, a top-class source of Cornas and St Péray. In this wine he uses 100% Roussanne; a quirky, capricious varietal which many growers fear to tackle because of its propensity to oxidise quickly but, if well-handled as in this case, one that is capable of producing gloriously rich, aromatic and finely-textured wine.
(Alun Griffiths MW, Wine Director)
Rich and mellow, rounded yet refreshing, this is a superb Roussanne-based St Peray, with classic aromas of pear skin and honeysuckle leading to a finely-textured and beautifully long palate.
(Simon Field MW, Berrys’ Rhône Buyer)
