2008 Langhe Nebbiolo, Coste, Ferdinando Principiano
|
|
If ever there was a wine to convey the perfumed beauty and drinkability of the
Nebbiolo grape, this is it! Gorgeously scented with crunchy red berried fruit,
the nose lifts you immediately to the breezy Langhe hills of Piedmont. And
in particular to the 'Le Coste' vineyard, with its 30 year old vines, together
with some young vine fruit from Serralunga's Boscareto site. The fresh
intensity on the nose - the wine was vinified only in stainless steel - is
replicated on the palate, which boasts delicious facility, zip, fragrance and a
fine suaveness. Drinking now till 2012, with meaty pasta dishes or
fish.
Please note that due to Ferdinando's natural approach to winemaking - the wine was not clarified or filtered pre-bottling - the wine may appear cloudy; this won't affect the taste.
