2009 Laderas de El Seque, Artadi, Alicante
|
|
Artadi owns 40 hectares in Alicante. Metreologically and geographically a fair
distance from Rioja, this is the home of the Monastrell which dominates here
making up 85% of the blend, the balance shared between Cabernet Sauvignon and
Merlot. Juan Carlos is proud of what is being achieved in his Alicante winery
and is indeed a great fan of Monastrell.
The little extra rounding from the Merlot adds a plumy mid-palate weight to this richly spicy and expressive wine. This really is splendid value; a very good choice to go with a mid-week supper, even, dare one suggest, although one does not necessarily endorse such things, to accompany a meal in front of the TV.
