2009 Les Tourelles de Longueville, Pauillac
The second wine of Ch. Pichon-Baron has long been a wine trade insider’s secret, consistently delivering a wonderful dollop of the ripe cassis fruit for which the Grand Vin is famous, for a fraction of the price.

2009 Les Tourelles de Longueville, Pauillac
Les Tourelles de Longueville 2009 is made from 61% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc. Nervy. Really quite chewy on the end. Light and lively and fresh and vivacious. Quite delicate. Warm, rich, very juicy, fruit juice.

2009 Les Tourelles de Longueville, Pauillac
The second wine of Pichon Baron, the Les Tourelles de Longueville, is the best second effort I have tasted from this estate. An equal part blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine is very seductive, with loads of black fruits, an almost caramelized note, low acidity and voluptuous texture. Endearing and pure, this full-bodied second wine is better than many vintages of the grand vin from the 1940s and 1950s. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.
