2010 Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Sylvain Cathiard

The gorgeous mid purple colour of this wine is matched by its hauntingly fine nose. Very classical Vosne-Romanée, this has taken on structure in barrel and is showing superbly well although will be one to relish if left to cellar for two or three years.

2010 is the first vintage to be made in the new cuvérie at this domaine, but it will be the last that is vinified by Sylvain Cathiard himself, he is handing over responsibility to his son Sébastien in 2011. The harvest began on 25th September with volumes just a little down compared to previous years, but as ever, Sylvain and his son have produced a most seductive range of wines.

A gentle application of oak melds with spicy, airy, notably cool and refined aromas of black pinot fruit and plum that are in keeping with the rich, delicious and sophisticated medium-bodied flavors that possess very fine tannins while culminating in a beautifully balanced, complex and lingering finish.
