The three of the title relates to three grape varieties, namely Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Pinotage which form broadly equal proportions of this unusual blend. Warwick is renowned for its Cabernets but Managing Director Mike Ratcliffe is a big fan of Pinotage and it certainly provides an attractively fruity component of this blend. Malolactic fermentation took place in barrel, after which the wine was aged for 28 months in French oak, one third each new, 1 year-old and 2 year-old.
On the bouquet there are delicious black fruit aromas, blackcurrant and blackberry, with more than a hint of peppery spice. On the palate there is deep concentration, lovely elegance and ripe, soft fruit flavours, underpinned by plentiful tannins and firm acidity which will ensure continued maturation for at least 10 years.
