Berrys' Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Caves d'Ogier
--
Ogier Caves des Papes
-- France
Southern Rhône Blend,
14.5% alc.
The 2007 Rhône vintage is a winner, with the southern Rhône’s
châteauneufs a real triumph as this glorious edition from the celebrated
Caves d’Ogier proves: all wonderful ripe, inky, mulberry and
prune-stashed fruit with terrific concentration and flavour. Great now but will
keep at least until 2014.

Berrys' Sancerre, Domaine J. Sautereau, Crézancy-en-Sancerre
--
Domaine Sautereau
-- France
Sauvignon Blanc,
12.5% alc.
Right from that first visit to the small family domain in Crezancy-en-Sancerre
in 2002 it was clear that young David Sautereau's 'Sancerre Blanc', with its
refined, fresh nettle & flint aromatics and generous, mouthfilling, crunchy
stone-fruit flavours, was the perfect candidate for the Berrys' Own Selection
range. Since then David has continued to deliver, come rain or shine,
faithfully conveying the region's singular terroir while meeting the
expectations of his ever-demanding customers. Delicious on its own, alongside
goats' cheese or with some smoked fish. Bravo David!.

Berrys' Mosel Riesling Kabinett, J & H Selbach (Stelvin)
--
Weingut Selbach-Oster
-- Germany
Riesling,
8.8% alc.
Johannes Selbach has responded to our request for a Kabinett style of Riesling
with typical aplomb and generosity. Subtle bouquet of ripe apples, lemon grass,
lime and a gentle slate minerality. From the 2008 vintage, Selbach has
fashioned an archetype of Mosel wine, that has ethereal elegance, finely
integrated acidity and delicate fruit. Perfect as an aperitif, but also very
food friendly, with, for example, roast pork or fusion cuisine.

Berrys' Rioja, Bodegas Amezola de la Mora
--
Bodegas Amezola de la Mora
-- Spain
Tempranillo/Tinto Fino,
13% alc.
I love this wine. There’s something so incredibly warming about it; the
rich red fruit, the cinnamon spice, the creamy finish… sub £10
Rioja at its very best. Once you’ve got past the whopping dollop of
vanilla on the nose, there’s a beautifully balancing acidity, bags of
ripe, creamy, strawberry fruit, and silky tannins to match. If you tried the
2002 and weren’t convinced, try this again – it’s from the
excellent 2004 vintage, and doesn’t it just show.

Berrys' Chablis, Domaine du Colombier
--
Domaine du Colombier
-- France
Chardonnay,
12.5% alc.
"Every year we blend our house Chablis with producer Thierry Mothe so as to
offer a consistently enjoyable style which hits the Chablis hallmark of
minerality spot on. This wine is bottled young for extra freshness and is
completely unoaked; it has all the qualities of a fine Chablis - namely a nose
of flint, gunpowder and peach - followed by a cerebral, citrus palate with a
honeyed silkiness. This would be an excellent match for halibut or trout in a
creamy sauce.Ready now."
