Barbaresco is often misunderstood and hence much-maligned. In the shadow of 'big brother' Barolo, its protagonists have in the past tried (in vain) to match their neighbours punch for punch. Cascina delle Rose, by contrast, 'gets' Barbaresco perfectly, intuitively knowing how to bring the best out of the region's light tufo soils.
