This was a revelation to us as the usually good but not exceptional Caillou Blanc was breathtaking this year. Racey concentration,depth,premier cru Burgundy level of sophistication.Really good. Sadly tiny production so we haven't been able to buy very many cases.

Rich purple colour and the typical plummy nose of Nuits-St Georges. Full, elegant classy fruit sweeps across the palate: absolutely mouth-filling and beautifully balanced. Very fine indeed for the medium term.

Les Hautes Brusquières is a lieu dit on the central plateau, with classic soils strewn with pebble stones. This is a rich and complex wine made with 40% Syrah this time to complement the Grenache. Raspberries, cherries, spice and chocolate; this is a delightful pot pourri with a seductive sweetness at its core.

"Aged only in large slavonian botte, this fine wine benefited from the hot summer to give extremely luscious and elegant, super-ripe strawberry and dried fruit flavours. Seems approachable now but would be even better over the next 3-5 years. Excellent with tuna." (David Berry Green - BBR Buyer)

The 2005 Reserva Privada is a vineyard selection of older vines consisting of 60% Tempranillo, 10% Mazuelo, 19% Garnacha, and 20% other varietals aged for 23 months in new Russian oak. A fine deep episcopal colour with notes of black fruits , coffee and spice evidenced, a rich and viscous texture, with hints of earth and crème de cassis to the fore and a powerful finish.
