Champagne Marguet Rosé, Grand Cru
--
Champagne Marguet
-- France
Champagne Blend, 12% alc. Benoit Marguet now only works with Grand Cru fruit for this superlative rosé. The majority of the vines are located in Cramant , Bouzy and his own village of Ambonnay. An innovative technical juxtaposition of saignée ( bleeding the juice from the red grapes) and assemblage ( addition of still red wine), pioneered by Benoit, has yielded a wine which combines structure and elegance. Made from 65% Chardonnay and 35% Pinot Noir, the wine has an attractive salmon to onion skin colour, a delicate mousse and a palate which marries summer fruits, gentle spice, peach and hints of roasted nuts. Domaine De Chevalier

Cab.Sauvignon Blend, 12.5% alc. Rich and brimming with blackberries, this blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, is silky smooth and incredibly concentrated with dense black cherry flavours on a creamy and sophisticated palate. This immense second wine is very serious indeed. |

Château Doisy-Védrines

Sauv.Blanc & Sémillon, 13.5% alc. A glorious nose of marmalade with just a hint of smokiness leaps from the glass. The palate is equally enticing and has just the right level of viscocity. A light to medium bodied Sauternes from a legendary vintage, this wine offers ripe botrytis and oranges galore. At this quality and price, I defy you not to drink it now, and lots of it! |

Peregrine
-- New Zealand
Pinot Noir, 13.5% alc. "From a good vintage, this emphatic Central Otagan Pinot Noir comes from one of the region's deep-seated producers. Full bodied with juicy black cherried, herbal and clove spice fruit, this wine is delicious now (with decanting), especially alongside roast goose. " (David Berry Green - BBR Buyer) |

Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira
--
Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira
-- Portugal
Port Blend, 20% alc. Beautiful Quinta high up on the Douro from the Symington stable; elegance and weight in perfect harmony. Senhora da Ribeira’s wines are some of the finest in the Douro and they complement those from Bomfim in the composition of Dow’s classic Vintage Ports. The latter would be incomplete if one of the two was absent. The quinta’s high proportion of old vines (45% are over 25 years old) is of critical importance. The old vines are very low-yielding, producing on average less than 1Kg of grapes each, giving intense and concentrated musts which are ideal for classic Vintage Port. |

Chablis Fourchaume, La Pièce au Comte, Jean-Claude Bessin
--
Jean-Claude Bessin
-- France
Chardonnay, 13% alc. " Since 2004 Jean-Claude Bessin has separated out his best parcel of the Fourchaume vineyard, a section of old vines which used to belong to the local landlord, le comte. This is unusually lush for Chablis but still bears the authentic steel underneath the flesh. Part of the cuvee has been barrel aged." (Jasper Morris MW, BBR Buyer) |
