This is Davide Rosso’s inaugural Langhe Nebbiolo, produced in tiny quantities (1500 bottles) as a ‘prova’ (trial) while we wait for his new Roddino (the village above Serralunga) fruit to come on stream in 2012. Made to the same exacting standard as his other wines, whether they be drunk in Serralunga or Shanghai, Davide used fruit from his 20 year old (Barolo) Cerretta vineyard, from the flat north-west facing parcel, hence the depth of colour and structure.

Vinified largely in stainless-steel and cement, this 100% Nebbiolo as the shoulders you ‘d expect/hope for from Serralunga along with a clear, pure black cherry/raspberry fruit expression, & deliciously bright acidity. Traditional yet shaped for a modern market. Bottled on the 11th Oct so best after Christmas; a great introduction to the (dynamic) world of Giovanni Rosso.
