Another terrific Chardonnay wine from perhaps Australia’s finest producer of this varietal. Despite the relative coolness of the site there are beguiling aromas of nectarine and melon which hint at the Australian origin, but then more restrained scents of oatmeal and hazelnut come into the picture to put us back in European territory.

On the palate the wine remains taut and reserved at this youthful stage, but one is conscious of hidden power and the promise of opulent development to come. There is real concentration, beautiful balance between the acidity, the ripe fruit and the minerality, and fine use of oak to complement the whole. A lovely wine to drink now or, preferably, from 2013-2025.
