2010 Crozes-Hermitage, Domaine Laurent Combier

Crozes-Hermitage, Domaine Laurent Combier
Laurent’s 2010 Crozes has aromas of dark cherry and crème de cassis, with notes of tapenade and spice on the palate and very silky tannins. The wine is pure and refined with a sweet entrancing core.
Simon Field MW, BBR Buyer, February 2012

Laurent Combier is not given to hyperbole; but for him 2010 is the best vintage in the Northern Rhône in his 22 years of wine-making, its nearest ‘rival’ being the 1990. The fact that it was less sunny than 2009 has engendered wines of structural integrity and very fine balance. The Combiers and the Graillots are neighbours; they are regarded as the best growers in Crozes Hermitage.

Crozes-Hermitage, Domaine Laurent Combier
Nose ticklingly pure Syrah. Neat and rather luscious. Very forward. I’d love to have this in a Paris bistro. 100% barriques of two to five years, for 12 months. All destemmed. Good value.
