2011 Domaine de Coudoulet, Chardonnay, Vin de Pays D'Oc

Domaine de Coudoulet, Chardonnay, Vin de Pays D'Oc
The sixth generation of Ournacs, Pierre-André and his brother Jean-Yves, now run this 18 hectare domaine in the South of France. Their speciality reds are dominated by Grenache and quite high proportions of Syrah but the chalk and clay soils of the foothills of the Montage Noire are also ideal for Chardonnay.

Without any oak influence, the 2011 is clean and pure, with a lemon-oil scent and a gentle spicy minerality . The wine has Burgundian intimations, combining the natural exuberant warmth that one associates with this part of the world with the pleasing classy restraint more redolent of a Maçonnais
