Following in the footsteps of his mentor Andre Ostertag, Lucas Rieffel has read this lesser-known noble Alsace variety just right: it’s a shy little wine, refreshingly reserved when compared with the bigger neighbours of Riesling, Pinot Gris & Gewurztraminer.

In fact it’s very like Lucas himself: a measured, self-deprecating soul with a dry sense of humour…the wine too is ‘sec’ at 2 grams of residual sugar. Discreet notes of sundried straw, of lemon pith urge you on to a fine, light, stony citrus fruit palate. A great aperitif alternative! Very good and sealed with a screwcap for extra freshness.
