2009 Chateau Croix de Cabut, Cotes de Blaye

Chateau Croix de Cabut, Cotes de Blaye
A lovely example of what petits chateaux can do so well in Bordeaux in great vintages, i.e. produce soft, ripe, easy-drinking clarets at attractive prices. Ch. Croix de Cabut vineyard sits on a chalky-clay soil and in consequence favours the Merlot grape, which makes up the lion’s share of the blend. The Blaye region is renowned for producing easy-drinking clarets with plenty of fruit and low tannins, so they have no real need of extensive ageing before you pull the cork. As one would expect from a great vintage such as 2009 the tannins are round and ripe.

This is a blend of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% MalbecCh. Croix de Cabut
