The 1er Cru, Clos Rousseau comes from the southern end of the Santenay village, so the vines were not affected by the September hailstorm. This wine always has the most powerful and darkest fruit, according to David Mareau, the soil being iron rich red clay. It is almost a baby Pommard with excellent weight right across the palate and real density of fruit.David Moreau
