Subtle oak spices mix with notes of leather, game and fresh plum aromas and leads to impressively complex, intense and sappy flavors of superb length. This is very ripe, indeed riper than any of the preceding wines yet this remains entirely fresh and bright with no loss of detail. A terrific effort and also recommended. Philippe Roty describes 2002 as having "great color, round tannins and such good balance that they should be capable of aging for years.
