2011 Ch. du Tertre, Margaux

Ch. du Tertre, Margaux
There are very few of these this year, but I can honestly say that this is the best vintage of Ch. du Tertre that we have collectively tasted over the 12 years we have been doing this. Rich, generous and plump, in a year not really known for these qualities, this is fabulous. I loved the 2009 but this feels more serious but not in a hard way. It is extremely appealing, will be worth every penny and should be available quickly too. Really very moreish.

Ch. du Tertre, Margaux
Well-concentrated blackcurrant fruit, quite rich and slightly earthy, fine clarity of expression and the vigourous fruit will show well.

Ch. du Tertre, Margaux
Very dark, black core. Fresh, lightly cedary red fruit. Verging towards capsicum on the palate but not too green. Slim, fresh, lightly structured. A light touch overall and tannins well managed.

Ch. du Tertre, Margaux
This blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot is somewhat closed, with high acidity and noticeable austerity. The color is a healthy dark ruby/purple and the wine exhibits notes of damp earth, tobacco leaf, sweet and sour cherries and loamy soil undertones. Drink it over the next decade.

Ch. du Tertre, Margaux
Modern style, with bolder plum, cassis and raspberry fruit flavors laced with roasted balsam wood and black tea. Nicely polished on the finish.
