Grenache and Syrah share the honours in this fine, beautifully balanced example from the rosé wine stronghold of Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence. 62% of this appellation is devoted to Rosé and Château de Fonscolombe is probably the leading property in the area...the area in question being the Durance Valley, located between the Luberon Mountains and the town of Aix itself. The 2011 is classically modest of hue, but then has a generous and energetic burst of red-fruit flavour on the palate and a refreshing yet satisfying finish. Ideal with grilled fish.
